My Voice is not Your Voice, Regan’s social action project
Regan’s journey through the Wimbledon Foundation’s Set for Success programme, in partnership with Barclays and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust, is a powerful example of how sport, mentorship and belonging can transform a young person’s confidence. When he first joined the programme, Regan was anxious and reluctant to participate due to a pronounced stammer. With the support of his Athlete Mentor, his school, and his peers, he gradually found the confidence to contribute, connect and grow.
That journey culminated in an extraordinary achievement: delivering a personal and courageous speech titled “My Voice is Not Your Voice” to school leaders as his Social Action Project. Sharing his experiences, challenges and aspirations, Regan used his voice to encourage greater understanding and empathy within his school community. His project reflects the heart of Set for Success - empowering young people to recognise their strengths, take the lead, and create meaningful change for themselves and others.
